A Good Story Paints a Picture

Stories describe an event so that the listener can see himself or herself there.

Every story moves forward from beginning to end.
Before telling your story, know how it begins, and how it ends.  Then think of it in terms of:

Scenes - Stories contain one or more “scenes,” just like in a movie.

Senses - Stories contain details describing sights, sounds & smells.

Feelings - And stories are always filled with feelings.

Stress - Tension or conflict make a story come alive.
