How does
The Story Collector process work?
You
can use The Story Collector process in 2 ways:
1. Listen to
real stories told by real people. Navigate to the Listen
page, select a story by clicking on the title. Your computer
should automatically open a media program which will begin playing
the story.
2. Tell your
own story for possible inclusion in The Story Collector's
Library.
a. First, visit the Home
page for story ideas.
b. Then, go to the Story
Tips page for some suggestions on developing your story.
c. Finally, go to the Submit
page, review the terms, and tell your story.
Recording is as simple as making a phone call to a toll-free number.
How much
does it cost? Or conversely, how much do you pay me for my
story?
At the present
time, The Story Collector neither charges for any service nor
does it pay contributors for their stories.
Can I
submit a story anonymously?
Yes. When
you submit your story, we ask for your name, your city and state,
and a means of contacting you. Note that we will not sell
or otherwise share your name and email information with anyone.
If you wish to remain anonymous on our web site, please indicate your
wish at the beginning of your story. If your story is selected,
only the word "anonymous" will appear by your story title.
How many
stories can I submit?
You may submit
as many stories as you'd like. At some point in the near
future, The Story Collector will offer a new service which
will make it possible for those who submit multiple stories to obtain
a CD recording of those stories for a nominal fee. Watch
your email for an announcement inaugurating this new service.
What if
I change my mind, after you publish my story to the web site?
If, after your
story has already been published on the web site, you decide you no
longer want it to be there, please contact us at info@TheStoryCollector.com
and we'll remove it.
What if
someone hears my story and wants to contact me?
Any personal information
we collect from you is considered private. The Story
Collector will
not divulge your contact information to anyone, ever.
Will you
edit my recorded or written story?
Possibly. While
we make every effort to keep your story intact, the way you told it,
there may be times when there's a long silence, or a sneeze or a cough. We'll
try to "clean up" your recording by removing those distractions. Also,
while we are not prudish about it, we prefer that you not use excessive
foul language. Doing so may result in rejection of your
story.
What if
I hear a story that offends me?
If you listen
to one of our stories and are strongly offended by it, please contact
us at info@TheStoryCollector.com. We
pride ourselves on a providing a safe place for people to visit and
hear true-life stories without offensive content.
